Zachary Taylor Davis was born in Georgia and came to Texas when he was young. He married Sophronia Catherine Pittman in 1873. Surviving children are: W. I. and T. O. Davis, attorneys of Center; Z. W. Davis, R. F. Davis of Nacogdoches; E. W. Davis of Longview; Henry and Neal Davis, officers serving France with the American expeditionary forces; James F. Davis, in officers training camp in Florida; Charles Davis, in officers training camp in Minnesota; Mrs. E. B. Holmes, nursing with the Red Cross in New York since the war but has returned to Camp Logan, Houston; Mrs. E. B. Hesser of Rosenburg, TX; Laura Davis, teaching at Hemphill; Lucille Davis, teaching at Tyler; and Mrs. B. P. Downer of DeRidder, LA.
