~0BIT~William F. McPike, aged 88, Walker's oldest citizen died at 9:35 yesterday morning at the home of his son, Otis P. McPike, on Ely Street. Death came as the result of paralysis, which had left the aged pioneer pratically helpless for more than a month. Mr. McPike was first stricken while visiting his son, Jesse, at Boise, Idaho, December 19. He improved somewhat after that and his youngest son, O.P. McPike, with whom he made his home. went to Idaho and brought him back to Walker, arriving here January 6. The father seemed greatly pleased to get back to the old home, and for a while appeared considerly improved. With a little help he was able to get about town and took occasion to visit several friends with who he had been a favorite. On February 4, came another severe stroke which affected his whole left side and left him helpless. He was given careful and affectionate care throughout his illness and remained cheerful and hopeful almost to the end. He is survived by three sons and one daughter: Howard of Dows, IA; J. H. of Middleton, Idaho; Mrs. J.B. McKee of Birch, MT; and O.P. McPike of Walker; Funeral services have not been completed yet but will probably be held at Troy Mills.
