The Rev. Lucille R. Dodds, 75, answered the Master's call peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Williamsburg Community Hospital. She was a lifetime resident of James City County and the daughter of the late King and Rosezelia Roberts. Rev. Dodds was an associate minister at Little Zion Baptist Church. She retired from Williamsburg Community. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Deacon Edward Dodds, and two of her sons, King Dodds and Jerry Dodd.

She leaves to cherish her blessed memories her children, John Dodds and his wife, Sue, of Washington, D.C., Gloria Wallace and her husband, Lloyd, of Gloucester and Gwendolyn Johnson and her husband, Lawrence, of Williamsburg; and her daughters-in-law, Rosalind Dodd and Elizabeth Dodds. Also left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Langston Dodds of Williamsburg, Shawn
Robinson of Virginia Beach and Dawn R. Morrison of Montgomery, Ala.; her 14 other grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Elizabeth Banks and her husband, Mack H., Catherine Dickerson and her husband, Charles, Lillie Bell and Amanda Roberts, all of Williamsburg; her brothers, William Leroy Roberts and his wife, Jean, of Newport News, Charles Roberts and the Rev. Carl Roberts, both of Williamsburg; her sisters-in-law, Lillian Roberts, Addie Dodds and Geneva Dodds; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and many, many caring friends.

Rev. Dodds may be viewed and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, April 3, at Little Zion Baptist Church, at which time expressions may be given by ministers and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Linwood Gatling officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble by noon Wednesday at 104 Grove Heights Ave.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Keith Hanger, the nurses, the staff and the auxiliary of Williamsburg Community Hospital for all acts of kindness extended during the illness of their loved one, Rev. Lucille Dodds. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
