On Sunday morning, December 5, 2021, God called home one of His most faithful servants, Deacon William "Leroy" Roberts. Born on July 13, 1936, he was the tenth child of the late Rosezelia and King Roberts Sr. of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Leroy graduated from Bruton Heights High School where he was very athletic and excelled in football.

On November 16, 1968, he married the love of his life Jean Hazel Lewis and enjoyed marital bliss for fifty-two years.

Leroy retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding after many years of service.

In his youth, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and became a lifelong member of the Little Zion Baptist Church in the community of Grove. He was a dedicated deacon of the church, a regular attendee of Sunday School, prayer meetings, and Bible study. He was a former teacher of the New Members class and sang with several of the church choirs. Over the years he acquired an abundance of knowledge from his love of reading and wisdom from the Supreme Teacher the Holy Spirit. He professed his love for Christ and was always willing to share the plan of salvation with others. Leroy was a devoted father, a caring grandfather, great-grandfather, and a committed follower of Christ. He could often be heard to say, "I can't wait to see the Master." His favorite scripture was John 3:16, and his favorite song was "Face to Face" by the Sensational Nightingales.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and eight sisters. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Mrs. Donna Jackson (Wayne) of Woodbridge, VA, Ms. Diana Doyle of Newport News, VA, Mark Roberts of Dothan, AL, Kelly Roberts of Newport News, VA, and Mrs. April Holt (Danny) of Newport News, VA; eleven grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; brother, Elder Carl Roberts of Lanexa, VA; sister, Ms. Amanda Roberts of Williamsburg, VA; devoted niece, Ms. Joan Brown of Williamsburg, VA; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Little Zion Baptist Church. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Roberts may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
