LILLIE M. BRADLEY BELL

Lillie M. Bradley Bell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night, October 23, 2012, in her home. She was born on May 29, 1943, in James City County, the fourteenth child of sixteen children of the late Rosezelia and King Roberts, Sr.

She attended Williamsburg-James County Public Schools, graduating from Bruton Heights School in 1961. After graduation, Lillie married the late Leroy Bradley, Sr. They were blessed with three children, Leroy Bradley, Jr. (deceased), Ramona Bradley Phipps (deceased) and Joseph Lamont Bradley. Several years after the death of Leroy Sr., Lillie joined hands in marriage with the late Everett Bell.

Lillie was employed by Colonial Williamsburg for many years, retiring in 1997, when her health began to fail. At a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Lillie was baptized and became a life-long member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Grove. Lillie's love for God and the church; never waivered. An active and outgoing person, Lillie embraced life and people. She made friends easily, and her home was always opened to family and friends. She is survived by her son, Joseph Lamont Bradley (Martina); her grandchildren, Demetrius Phipps, Jr., LaShawnda Seay (Alvin), Tiffani Bradley, Te'Aira Bradley, and Toyia Price; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Phipps, Josiah Seay, and Aniyah Bogger; her sisters, Catherine Dickerson and Amanda Roberts; her brothers, Dea. William Leroy Roberts, Charles Roberts, and Rev. Carl Roberts; her many nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Linwood Gatling officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 905 Jackson Street by 12:00 noon on Saturday. Mrs. Bell may be viewed on Friday (tonight) in the funeral from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg. 757-229-3011.
