John was a resident of Portville and vicinity for nearly 70 years. Former Superintendent of Highways and a Village Trustee. He was a member of the Portville Presbyterian Church. He passed away at his home on Brooklyn St.. One son Hoyt M. Armstrong of Portville, one daughter Mrs. Hattie Marsh, 3 Grandchildren, 2 brothers, Frank of Pensacola, Fl., and Charles of Portville, one sister Mrs. Hattie Sturdevant of Canisto, NY. John Married Nettie Hopkins (Antonette) Sept 3, 1882.

Hoyt M. Armstrong was married to Pearl Grace Hill and they had a son John William Armstrong and a daughter Elizabeth Armstrong. John and Elizabeth are both buried here at Chestnut Hill. Additional info. was provided by John William Armstong's daughter Judy.

THE BOLIVAR BREEZE, THURSDAY, MAR. 20. 1930 The death of John N. Armstrong, for nearly 70 years a resident of this village and vicinity, occurred at his home on Brooklyn street at about one o'clock this morning following an Illness of several weeks. Mr. Armstrong was born in the town of Clarksville on May 15. 1860, On Sept. 3, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Nettle Hopkins, who together with one daughter, Mrs. Hattle Marsh and one son, Hoyt Armstrong survive him, Also three grandchildren, Luella Marsh, Betty and John Armstrong. He is also survived by one brother, Charles Armstrong of Portville.—Review.
