Mrs. Ida Schliepsiek Funeral Held Here
Funeral services in charge of the Rev. P.E. Ross were held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy Monday afternoon at 2:30 for Mrs. Ida Schliepsiek, who passed away at the hospital at Hampton, Iowa, Thursday, Feb. 8, 1940. She was aged 76 years, 11 months and 4 days. Burial took place in Union cemetery by the side of her husband, the Rev. J. G. Schliepsiek.
Pall bearers were: Ben Behrends, Otto Baedke, George Meyer, Herman Meyer, Henry Nieting and Carl Schnell.
Ida Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gotlieb Schmidt, was born on March 4, 1863, at Chatham, Ill. Here she grew to womanhood and in 1882 was united in marriage to John G. Schliepsiek. Eight children were born to this union, five dying in infancy.
The Rev. and Mrs. Schliepsiek served Lutheran churches at Cayuga, Ill., Caledonia, Mich., Pomeroy, Iowa, from 1888 to 1905, Clinton, Wisc., Merrill, Wisc., and Honey Creek, Iowa, at which place Rev. Schliepsiek died. Following his death she made her home with her children. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paula Nieting of Newhall, Iowa; two sons, Rev. John Schliepsiek of Hubbard, Rev. Theodore Schliepsiek of Vinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren, two brothers, Gotthold Schmidt of Pomeroy, William Schmidt of Springfield, Ill., and other relatives.
Relatives attending the funeral at Pomeroy Monday included Rev. and Mrs. Otto Nieting and family of Newhall; Rev. and Mrs. John Schliepsiek and family of Hubbard; Rev. and Mrs. Theodore Schliepsiek of Vinton, Iowa; Rev. and Mrs. Hugo Nieting and son of Ute; Rev. and Mrs. C. Hease of Eldora: Rev. and Mrs. Brewer of Buckeye; Rev. and Mrs. Ad Schwidder and Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Becker of Fort Dodge; rev. and Mrs. W. C. H. Schaefer of Rockwell City; Rev. and Mrs. Joel E. Ross of Knierim; friends from Hubbard and Honey Creek, Mrs. Alf Halfpap and Mrs. Lena Runge of Fort Dodge and others.

Mrs. Schliepsiek Passes
Mrs. Ida Schliepsiek of Newhall, wife of Rev. Schliepsiek, former pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church in Pomeroy, is a patient at a hospital at Hampton where she submitted to a major operation Friday. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. G. Schmidt and Mrs. John F. Gutz of Pomeroy drove to Hampton one day last week for a visit with aged lady. She is a sister of G. Schmidt.
Later, just as The Herald goes to press it is learned that Mrs. Schliepsiek passed away at noon this Thursday.
