She was born Jul 24, 1871, Moultrie Co., IL to George and Katherine Bence and died 11 Jun [1949] at her home in Windsor. She married W. S. Rankin, Mar. 12, 1890 and three daughters were born to this union. Her husband died Jan. 8, 1944. Survivors were Mrs. Orris Bennett, Mrs. J. H. Tull of Windsor; Mrs. C. C. Hull of Aurora; grandson, Rankin Tull and three great grandchildren, Johnnie, Ronnie and Bonnie Tull of Aurora; sisters, Mrs. Laura Sprague and Mrs. Cora Sharp of Windsor; brothers, Jason Bence of Charleston and G. E. Bence of Mattoon; half-brothers, Alva Bence of Windsor, Lyman Bence of Kansas City, MO, and Roy Bence of Decatur. Burial was in Ash Grove cemetery. - [excerpt] Windsor Gazette - 16 Jun 1949
