Mark Bigler was the tenth child of Jacob G. Bigler and Amy Lorette Chase. He married Madaline Chapman Pyper on December 18, 1879 in Salt Lake City. The couple had nine children: Elizabeth, Louise, Leala, Myrtle, Mark, Kate, Mary, Norma, and Madaline.

NEPHI -- Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Mark Bigler, 88, who died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Norma Cox, at Mapleton, Sunday. Services will be conducted by Alma C. Trantor, bishop of the Nephi ward, and burial in the City Cemetery will be directed by Anderson funeral home, Nephi.

Friends may call at the home of Mr. Bigler's daughter, Mrs. L. A. Bailey, Tuesday evening and Wednesday until time of services.

Born Nov. 15, 1856 in Nephi, a son of Jacob G. and Amy L. Chase Bigler, Mr. Bigler was an ardent LDS church worker, having filled a mission to the eastern states in 1887-1889. Following his return, he was made a member of the North LDS ward bishopbric, later serving as a member of the high council of Juab LDS stake, and president of the high priests' quorum.

He also served for two terms on the Nephi city council and was city marshall for several years. As a young man, Mr. Bigler freighted into Nevada and Arizona, and helped to extend the railroad from York, north of Nephi to Leamington.

During his later years, he was a worker at the Manti LDS temple.

His wife was Madaline Pyper Bigler, whom he married in the Salt Lake Endowment House Dec 18, 1879, and who died 21 years ago.

Survivors are one son and three daughters: Lisle Bigler and Mrs. Elva Bailey, Nephi; Mrs. Leala Thorn, Salt Lake city, and Mrs. Norma Cox, Mapleton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Bigler, Salt Lake City, and one sister, Mrs. Susanna Goldsbrough, Nephi. Two grandsons are in the army.
