Abner Chase Bigler was the son of Jacob G. Bigler and Amy Lorette Chase. He married Elizabeth Anderson Tranter on January 10, 1876 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City. The couple had twelve children: Amy Elizabeth, Abner Tranter, Nina Alice, Blanche Lapreal, Sarah Ellen, Florence Dean and Clarence Gean (twins), Lillian Bell, Goldie Itha, Clarissa Leila, Daniel Erin, and Vera Bathsheba..

This photograph of the Abner Chase Bigler family in Nephi was taken on July 18, 1908 after the funeral of their twelve year old son, Clarence Gean Bigler, who was accidentally crushed and killed under a loaded hay wagon.

In the front row are (left to right): Clarence's twin sister, Florence Dean (Burton)(Price) (1896-1991), Abner Chase Bigler (1854-1930), Clarissa "Leila" (Sykes)(Hampton) (1904-1945), Elizabeth Anderson Tranter Bigler (1858-1934), Blanche Lapreal (Brough) (1901-1997), and Amy Elizabeth (Grover) (1901-1957).
