Lonnie Burch was the son of Oscar Burch and Edith Hardesty Burch of Meade County, Kentucky. Here is an obituary from the Daily Racing Form in March 4,1980:
Lonnie Burch, 70, Dies; Former NYRA Employee
AQUEDUCT, N.Y., March 4 - Lonnie Burch, 70, chief supervisor of the admissions department at the three New York Racing Association tracks until his retirement in January, 1979, died Saturday night at Jamaica Hospital. A native of Louisville, he had worked in the admissions departments of the New York tracks since 1936 and was appointed supervisor in December 1967. He also worked at tracks in the Miami area until racing went on a year-round basis in New York. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, chief nurse at the NYRA hospitals; two step-children, Dennis and Mary Ellen, two sisters and a brother. The body is at the Somonson Funeral Home, 119-04 Hillside Avenue, Richmond Hill, and viewing has been scheduled from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m, Tuesday. A mass is scheduled at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Child of Jesus R. C. Church, 111-11 86th Avenue, Richmond Hill. Interment will follow.

Mr. Lonnie Burch, 71 years old, died Sunday, March 2, 1980, in Richmond Hill, New York. Mr. Burch was a former resident of Ekron, Ky. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Burch; stepdaughter, Mary Ellen Mull; stepson, Dennis Mull, all of Richmond Hill, New York. Also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Robinson, Mrs. Ora brown, Mrs. Gusta Harms and Mrs. Mary Haynes; one brother, Robert L. Burch. Funeral services were held March 5th, 9:45 a.m., at Holy Child of Jesus Catholic Church, in Queens, New York. Interment was in Poughkeepsie, New York.
