Mrs. Hattie Linzy

Mrs. Hattie Meroney Linzy, 77, of 1420 Beech, died Thursday night at 9 o'clock at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Linzy suffered a fall at her home Tuesday night and was admitted to the hospital at that time to undergo treatment.

A daughter of the late John P. and Sarah Jolley Bennett. She was born Aug. 23, 1883, in Lincoln County. She spent her childhood in Lincoln County where she attended school.

She was first married to Virgil Meroney in Lincoln County on Feb 21, 1901, and to this union were born six children, three of whom survive. Mr. Meroney died Dec 12, 1922.

She was married in 1950 to Robert P. Linzy, who died Dec 16, 1952.

Mrs. Linzy had been engaged as a seamstress and tailor in Pine Bluff for a number of years.

She was a member of Lakeside Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Lt. Col. Virgil K. Meroney, stationed at George Air Force Base at Victorsville, Cal.; two daughters, Mrs. H. N. Appling of Sheridan and Mrs. Eddie Tiemann of San Antonio, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Jeffie Allbright and Mrs. Letha Smith of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Cora Smith of Denver, Col; six grandchildren, including Mrs. Rubilee Crabtee of Pine Bluff; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Meroney Linzy, 77, of 1420 Beech street, widow of Robert P. Linzy, who died Thursday night at the Jefferson Hospital, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Ralph Robinson and Son Chapel.

Services will be by the Rev. John E. Hefley, pastor of Lakeside Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: William Mitosinka, Taylor Guest, C. D. Guest, Howard Phillips, Arnold B. Shinall, I. D. Walker, Darrell E. Baker, Herbert Phillips of Little Rock and Searl Bush of Star City.
