Charles Scott commited suicide at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel W. Scott of near Lizton, Monday morning at 6:10 o'clock by shooting himself with a 32 calibre revolver. He lived about forty-five minutes after the shooting but was unconscious all the time.

He was a young man of a loving character and a happy disposition and was well liked by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Young Scott was a former Lizton high school student. He was 22 years, 11 months and 25 days old having been born at the place where he committed suicide.

He has left a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters and one brother as follows: Mrs. Minnie Hughes of Bloomingdale, Mrs. Grace Bowman of Rainstown, Forest Scott, Mrs. Bessie Blacketer of Rockville and Misses Gay and Alma at home. Marion A. Burgin living three miles southeast of Lebanon is an uncle. Young Scott had a splendid home and the cause of his act is unknown.

Mr. Scott and a boy friend, John Swain, were preparing to leave for North Dakota on the morning of the shooting. His parents did not want him to go as he had been to Denver, Colorado and the Dakotas a few months previous. He seemed to be dissatified and the parents did all they could to get him satisfied and give him a good way of making money on the farm as his parents are well to do people.

The young man went to see his sweetheart, Miss Alta Davis, on Sunday night and, before returning home, he informed her that he was going to North Dakota the next morning, asking her which would she rather for him to do: go or commit suicide? Miss Davis told him she would rather he stay at home but to go to North Dakota if he thought best. He returned home Sunday night about 10 o'clock going to bed as usual getting up about 5:30 dressing and going out to the barn to feed the horses.

Returning to the house, he asked his father what he was going to do that day. He went into his bedroom and called his eighteen year old sister, Gay. She asked him what he wanted and he told her that he would give her his watch and chain. The sister replied, "Aren't you going to take them with you?" and he replied "No", and began crying and kissed her twice, then reaching down by his side, he drew forth a 32 calibre revolver and placing it behind his right ear pulled the trigger. He fell back unconscious on the bed. He shot himself at 6:10 and death came at 7:05 o'clock.

The family and sweetheart are almost heart broken over the shooting. Mrs. Scott has been under the care of a physician. The cause of his suicide is a mystery to all. Young Scott had no trouble with his sweetheart and no bad habits. The funeral took place at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Scott 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial at Lizton.
