Jesse G. Stockton was a son of Samuel C. and Julia (nee Hosey) Stockton, and a grandson of Jesse and Rebecca (nee Smith) Stockton Sr. His name might have been Jesse Gerganeous Stockton.

Mr. Jesse G. Stockton, an aged and prominent respected citizen, died at his home near Dicken school house, Dec. 27, 1928, due to diseases old age. He was aged 88 years and was a veteran of the Civil War. He is survived by 6 children: Mrs. S.L. Jarvis of this town, Mrs. R.B. Poling of Crosby, N.D., Mrs. Perk Lovelace of Cooper, Ky., Gene Stockton of Howell, Texas, Craft Stockton of Colorado and Paul Stockton of Detroit, Mich., and a number of grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.F. Piercy, of Horse cave, and the remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery.

Mr. Stockton had visited Mr. and Mrs. Perk Lovelace frequently and had a host of friends at Cooper who were sorry to hear of his death.
