In 1914 he was injured when he was struck by a tram operated by the PA Rail Road for which he brought suit for damages (and the apparent source of Geneva's comment regarding Tom below).
Tom later lived in the Pittsburgh area [Harmerville] area for a period of time.
In April 1942, Tom registered for WWII's "Old Man's" draft. The draft registration on the right indicates that he was unemployed and then living with a Gertrude Barker at 702 West North Ave in Pittsburgh. It described him as 5' 8.5" tall, 163 pounds, blue eyes, gray hair and a light complexion. The 1940 census also has him living at this same address, married, unemployed, and indicating his level of education of having completed the 5th grade.
Tom died in 1944 from respiratory failure/cerebral hemorrhage at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. At that time he was married to Gertrude, working as a laborer for the Crucible Steel Company and residing at 1123 Ridge Avenue. The death certificate shows Thomas' mother as "unknown" which would imply that Gertrude, as informant, had no knowledge of Thomas' mother Jennie. Place of burial on the death certificate was noted as Rural Valley, PA.
According to former wife Geneva, Tom was "a ladies man", telling younger family members (jokingly) that he "was almost killed by a train while running from a woman's husband."

Gravesite Details
Rural Valley, PA is noted on death certificate as place of burial but no specific cemetery is named. Most likely candidate is the Rural Valley Cemetery where father Edward is buried however no marker is found there for him.
