DELL J. BOWMAN
Dell J. Bowman was born Nov. 19, 1882, in Monroe county, Iowa, near Melrose, and passed away at the Wayne county hospital Jan. 12, 1956, at the age of 73 years, one month and 24 days.
He was the second son of Perry and Matilda Prather Bowman. He spent his early life near Melrose.
He was married to Miss Anna Young at Chariton on Dec. 24, 1912. They lived on a farm in Whitebreast township for four years and then moved to their farm east of Derby, where they lived for 39 years. They were married for 43 years.
He united with the Methodist church under the Rev. Larrick and belonged to the Derby Methodist church, where he was a faithful member until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Anna Bowman, one daughter, Mrs. Marcella Exley and son-in-law, Milan Exley, two grandchildren, Claudia and Ronald Exley, one sister, Mrs. Grace Threlkeld. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at the Beardsley funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 1956. The Rev. J. E. McClellan officiated with burial in the Chariton cemetery.
