Fred Spencer, Ex-Supervisor

ELMWOOD PARK - Fred Spencer, 78, of 12 Locust St., died Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Paterson, after a short illness.

Born in Paterson, he lived in the Wayne area before moving to this borough 47 years ago. He was employed as a supervisor by the signal division of the Susquehanna Railroad working in the Hawthorne area. He retired in 1967. He was a member of the Wayne Grange and the Junior Order of United Qualified Mechanics of Elmwood Park.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Conte Funeral Home, 274 Market St., with the Rev. Richard Suffern, pastor of Trinity Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.

He leaves his wife, the former Edith Rinbrand; a brother, Thomas, of Clifton, and a sister, Miss Alice Spencer of Clifton.
