Rev. Moss M. Gleaton, 86, died early Wednesday morning at the Bamberg Hospital following a short illness and several months of declining health. Funeral services will be conducted at the Folk Funeral Home at 3 o'clock Thursday, with the Rev. Freeman, the Rev. L. and the Rev. Frierson officiating. Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Floyd Gleaton, Joel McClain, Harris D. Peeples, Henry M. Proveaux, Howard Proveaux, and Billy Ray Sturkie. Rev. Gleaton was the son of the late Willis and Arenia Chavis Gleaton of Orangeburg County. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, and during his earlier years, he preached and was active in all church activities. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Henry A. Proveaux, Charleston, Mrs. Juddie Gleaton, Neeses, Mrs. Allen Gleaton, Springfield, and Miss Rosa Gleaton, Springfield, Miss Eva Belle Gleaton, Springfield, Miss Corrie Gleaton, Springfield; two sons, Collie Gleaton of Salley and Otis Gleaton of North; one sister, Mrs. Lula Gleaton, Neeses; 30 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. © The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 20 Apr 1967
