Thomas E.Delaney, 84,former Decatur policeman who has been a resident of E.St.Louis for 15 years died at 5:30 pm Saturday in St. Marys hospital in E.St.Louis.
He was born on a farm near Springfield in 1855. He came to Decatur in 1903 to join the police force.
He was married to Miss Margaret Hickey of Decatur in 1904. In 1918 he retired from the police force and moved to a farm between Litchfield and Hillsboro later moving to E.St.Louis.
He leaves his widow,three daughters,Mrs.Sam Easterly of Silvis , Mrs.Wilford Rodems of Taylorville and Margaret Delancey of E.St.Louis, one son, William of Keokuk, Ia, one sister,Mrs. John Hagen of Illioplis,five brothers, Patrick, Michael and Jerry,all of Decatur,Lawrence of Clinton and John of Niantic and seven grandchildren.
Requiem high mass will be held at 9 am Tuesday in St.Patrick's Catholic church here with burial in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at Moran & Sons funeral home. The Catholic Daughters of America from Taylorville will meet at the funeral home at 9 pm today to say the Rosary.
