Curt is the son of Irving Porter and Mary Elizabeth (Doolin) Roberts, the youngest of 4 children. He married Eva Myrtle Jones Jan 16,1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had three children: Patricia LaVon Roberts, Richard Irving (Dick) Roberts, and Gerald Thomas "Gerry" Roberts. They were later divorced.
He began working for the Union Pacific Railroad, at the age of 19, following his father and uncle Paul, and continued in various capacities until retirement, the last being conductor.
