OBITUARY
"She walked in beauty like the night of Starry Skies"

Sister Ruth Williams was born in Taylor County,Kentucky,
September 14,1917 to the parents of Lloyd and Mattie Shivley. At an early age she was baptized at the Burdick A.M.E.Church in the Burdick Community of Taylor County
under the pastorate of the Rev.R..Parker.
While still a very young woman,Ruth Shivley met and married Thomas A.Williams.This union was blessed with nine
children,five boys and four girls.

In 1952 Mr.Williams moved his family to Louisville,Kentucky
where Ruth soon joined the congregation of St.Paul A.M.E.
Church under the pastorate of the late Rev.Alford Carroll.
In 1959,Ruth Williams moved her membership to Asbury Chapel
A.M.E. Church at it's present location. Her former pastor,
The Rev.R...Parker,was once again her minister as he was now pastor of Asbury.

Sister Williams affiliated herself with the Senior Missionary Society of the church and gave much service to it's mission. She later was appointed by her pastor to serve
on the Stewardess Board#2,which she did faithfully.Sister Williams was a great supporter of her church and did all
within her power to render service to God.

To say that she was a nice lady would not say enough of her,to say that she was a nice christian lady would only
hint of her character, however to say that she was a kind, uncomplaining, dedicated christian lady would say something truly significant of the life and labor of our
sister beloved,Ruth L.Williams.
She leaves to mourn her passing, five sons,Joseph,David,
James,Gordon and Waymon Williams;three daughters,
Mrs.Frances Bridgewater,Mrs. Hattie Portis and
Mrs.Yvonne Mattingly;three sisters,Mrs.Edna Hickman,
Mrs.Lucille McGlothin and Mrs,Catherine Hayes;thirty eight
grandchildren;eleven great grandchildren;a host of other
relatives and friends.
