Rachel has a son named Andrew Jackson Helvie whose life is detailed in an article in the Huntington Herald dated 22 Sep 1928. In that article, it is stated in talking about Andrew's life: "In the meantime my mother had moved up here to Huntington County and was living on the Warren Road close to the Loon Creek Church. My uncle, Jim Marshall, had a saw mill close by. He sawed alot of lumber for the Warren plank road." This Jim Marshall would be James H. Marshall whose marriage record listed his parents proving that Rachel is a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Marshall and Catharine Egar.

Andrew "Jack" Helvie states in the same article: "My daddy was married three times and was the father of twenty-five children. There were an even dozen of us full brothers and sisters and only two of us are living brother Solomon and myself. He lives at Peru and..." So Rachel Marshall-Helvie had 12 children.

In Rachel's application for a pension for her husband's service, her age is stated as 67 as of 15 Feb 1873 so she is born abt 1805 or 1806. It states she is a resident at that time of Erie Township, Miami County, Indiana.
