Chester E. Ritz Sr., 78, of Springfield died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital. He was born in Chatham on June 8, 1911, the son of John and Emma Burge Ritz. He was preceded in death by one son, Chester Earl Ritz Jr., in 1989. Mr. Ritz formerly was employed at Lincoln Greens Golf Course for many years.
He married Isola Spain in 1935 in Springfield. In additon to his wife, surviving are five sons; two daughters; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
