Maria Whited Croco was the second wife of Adam Croco. They were wed June 6, 1854. They had four Children. She was the daughter of James Whited and Hana Wilson.

Death Of An Old Settler.
Mrs. Mariah Croco died at the home
of her son, Henry Croco, east of
Argos, Friday, May 11, 1900, aged
77 years, 9 months and 3 days. She
was born, August 8, 1822, in Ohio.
When about 8 years old she re-
moved with her parents to Michi-
gan, where she lived about 10 years.
They then moved to Starke coun-
ty, Ind., and later to this county,
settling on the farm now occupied
by Henry Croco. On June 6, 1854,
she was united in marriage to Adam
Croco, who died in 1881. To this
union were born four children,
three of whom, Henry Croco, Mrs.
Josephine Montgomery, and Mrs.
B. C. Bowell, survive her. Three
sisters, Mrs. Goodel of Plymouth,
Mrs. Short, of Ft. Wayne, and Mrs.
German, Pasadena, Cal., and two
brothers, Wm. and Stephen Whited
also survive her. The funeral was
held Sunday from the M. E. church,
conducted by Rev. W. R. Mickels,
and was attended by a large con-
course of relatives and friends who
assembled to pay a last tribute to
one who was universally honored
and esteemed. The remains were
laid to rest in Maple Grove ceme-
tery.
