Alfon O Rabe, 95, of rural Kiel died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab Center where he was a resident for the past two months.
He was born Sept, 22, 1905 in the town of Schleswig, son of the late August and Caroline (Schnuell) Rabe. Alfon attended Hillside Grove School in the town of Schleswig. On November 26, 1930 he married the former Oliva Brocker at Zion Lutheran Church in Louis Corners and she preceded him in death on October 20, 1974.
The couple farmed in the town of Schleswig for four years before moving to a farm in the town of Eaton. Alfon also worked at the Schleswig Telephone Company, Hingiss Implement, and AA Laun Furniture Co.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel. Alfon enjoyed his family immensely. He had a love for card playing, walking in the woods, being with the threshing crew, selling his Christmas trees and going "Up North". We will miss him.
Survivors include a daughter Carol and Herman Gaedtke of rural Kiel, a son Eugene and Rachel Rabe of rural Sheboygan; six grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Florence and Herman Binversie, and Dorothy and Eldon Fluhr both of rural Kiel, one brother Rubin and Anna Rabe of New Holstein, and a sister-in-law, Lorena Ruh of Valders. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Amanda Karstaedt and Elda Wagner; four brothers, Alvin, Fred, Elmer and Arno Rabe, and a brother-in-law, Milton Brocker and one great grandchild, Zachery Hochkammer.
