She was born May 25, 1909 in Toronto, Missouri to Porter and Bertha Alma (Wall) George.
She married Paul Chandros Appling on May 7, 1930. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1998.
Mrs. Appling graduated from Southwest Missouri State in 1956. She taught at one room schools, Hardscrabble, George, Steeley Shed, Richland, Montreal and Camdenton, where she retired in 1974.
She and her husband lived on a farm in Dean's Creek Community, Camden County, for 68 years.
She had been a member of the First Christian Church in Richland since 1927.
Services for Clarice Appling will be 11am November 1, 2002 in First Christian Church, Richland, with Bob Leinbaugh officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, under the direction of Colonial Chapel, Richland.
She is survived by two daughters, Glena Dawn (Gus) Nickels and Wilda Lea (Jack) Vaughn, all of Springfield; three sisters, Fern (Jess) Ballenger, Ruby Windes, all of Richland
and Gail Del Principe of Schaumburg, Illinois; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Thetis, who died in infancy, Marie Walker and Floy Murphy Landreth
