Wilhelmina Gardiner came to America on 20 October 1879 with her parents. She departed from Glasgow, Scotland, and Moville, Ireland. She arrived in New York on the ship Circassia on her 16th birthday. She and her parents moved immediately to Palo Pinto County, Texas where they lived until 1905 when she came to Graham to make her home.

Wilhelmina Gardiner married John Hamilton on 1 November 1882 at Graham, Texas. To this union were born eight children, two preceded their mother in death. Her husband preceded her in death.

The First Methodist Church was thronged with sorrowing friends when services for Mrs. W.A. Hamilton were held officiated by Rev. R.C. Edwards, the pastor. Mrs. Hamiton had been an active worker for many years in the Methodist Church. A beautiful tribute was paid in her home, "Another one of God's saints has been called to her eternal reward. And We may well feel that she is safe in the care of her Lord whom she loved so supremely and served so faithfully." Mrs. E.S. Graham sang, "Face to Face".

As a young girl, Mrs. Hamiton joined the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland, and after her marriage, together with her husband, united with the Methodist Church. Throughout the more than a quarter of a century of her residence in Graham, she has been known and loved for her beautiful Christian life and her unfailing devotion to friends and neighbors.

Survived by Mrs. Minnie R. Moore, Mrs. Annie Lyon, Mrs. Frances Bower, John P. Hamilton, Jr, William Hamilton, Mrs. Pearl Robertson; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
