After graduating from Manitou High School in 1926, Crystal earned a teacher's certificate from the then named Central State Teachers College in Edmond, Okla. She came to the Chattanooga area in 1928 as a young schoolteacher. While teaching at Sunset View, Crystal met a local farmer who was to become her husband. Crystal and Charlie Ochsner married Sept. 6, 1930. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1990, two years before Charlie's death in January of 1992 at the age of 93. After Charlie and Crystal married, Crystal devoted her life to serving her family and her Lord. In a note to her pastor she once wrote, "The most precious thing we have in our Chattanooga Baptist Church is our children. Take care of them first." When a new baby was born in the community, Crystal was the first to welcome the baby home. She always took the new baby a New Testament. Ann Goodwin Jones
I always loved to go to Aunt Crystal and Uncle Charlies. I loved going to their Church, feeding the chickens, and swimming in the horse tank and playing with the Ochsner cousins. Those were some of my best memories as a child. When Robert and I went to visit Crystal and Charlie, Crystal would get on the phone and call all of her family to come over to see us.
