Charles Wallace Mikels, Sr., 44, of West Lafayette Rural Route 2, ten miles north of Lafayette, died at 10 a.m. today at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.
Born in Romney, November 10, 1897, he enlisted in Company B, Second Engineers, May 9, 1917, at Lafayette and served overseas until August 16, 1919. He was in actual service in France and served with army of occupation in Germany. He was married to Beulah Carr October 21, 1920. He was a member of the U.B. Church.
Surviving besides the wife are three children: Charles, Jr., Dale, and Catherine, all at home. The body was brought to the Thompson Funeral home, where friends may call. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Soldiers Home Chapel; burial in Soldiers Home Cemetery.
