John William (Bill) Mikels, 74, of 225 1/2 Main street, died in St. Elizabeth hospital at 11:30 p.m. Friday. He had been in failing health a year and a patient in the hospital four days.
Born at Romney, he lived at Battle Ground for 60 years before moving to Lafayette in 1946. He formerly was employed by the Ross Gear and Tool company for 10 years before his retirement in 1956. Before that he was a farmer at Battle Ground. He was a member of UAW-CIO, Local 531.
Surviving are two brothers, Albert and Roy of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Laura Schnepp of near Americus.
