Obituary:
W.L. Able
Hind's Valley church mourns the loss of Bro. W.L. Able. He was born March 7, 1845, died Dec. 24, 1919, aged 74 years, 9 months, 17 days.
He professed faith in Christ in early manhood and united with White's Creek Church for several years, then until with the church at Hind's Valley the 2nd Sunday in July 1905, was ordained Deacon, Oct. 2nd, Saturday 1905 and served in that capacity 'til death. He was always prompt in his attendance at church meeting and was liberal with his means in the support of the church, always remembering his pastor, also the poor and needy, visiting them when sick or in distress. The church has lost a faithful member and a devoted Christian. He was thrice married: first to Miss Emily Narramore, to this union three daughters were born. Second marriage, Miss Sarah Hitchew. To this union 14 children were born. Third marriage, to Miss Laura Kyker, who survives him to mourn his loss, besides five sons and five daughters, one brother and one sister and a host of grandchildren. His funeral was conducted by his pastor, W.T. West in the presence of a large congregation. His body was laid to rest in the family graveyard to await the resurrection. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."
