Joined for duty and enrolled July 24, 1863, at Danville, Ky., age 18. He was carried on the muster rolls as Robert H Ables. He was admitted to the Army of the Ohio hospital in Marietta July 22, 1864, and died there on Aug 11, 1864. Originally buried in the City Cemetery, 1/2 mile south of Marietta, Ga., in a group of 54 graves of the 23rd Army Corps.

Robert Henry Abel was mistakenly identified as William Ables (Robert's brother) when he was interred in Marietta National Cemetery. William Abel, Co E 1st Tennessee Infantry, survived the war. He is buried in Roane Co, Tenn.

This is a bit of an odd situation. My great great grandfather was William Able Corp Co E 1st Tennessee Infantry. He had a brother that was named Robert Henry Abel who also served in Co E 1st Tennessee Infantry. Robert Henry Abel died 11 August 1864. I believe the latter was mistaken for the former when he was originally buried in Marietta or some point afterwards. I have seen William Able's grave in Roane County, Tennessee and have seen his pension papers as well. His memorial can be found here:

I am not sure of what to do in this situation. I sent for a photo request and do not want throw any volunteers off by changing the name.
Robert Henry Able parents were James Christopher Abel (51031701) and Anna Hinds Abel (90722764). He was born 30 January 1847 in Dallas County, MO.
Update 7/12/2013: I have found where the mistake in identification occurred. Thanks again!
On 14 September 1864 Robert Henry Ables was mistakenly identified as his brother Corporal William Abels in the final statement papers signed by F. Machew, which were received by the Adjunct(sp?) General's Office on 27 September 1864.
The records for the brothers were not amended by the Record and Pension Division of the War Department until 15 March 1889.
Robert Henry Abels enlisted in Co. E 1st Regiment Tennessee Volunteer Infantry on 24 July 1863 at Danville, Kentucky. On 22 July 1864 he was admitted into the General Field Hospital of the Army of Ohio at Marietta, GA for debility and erysipelas. He died in the hospital on 11 August 1864.

William's brother Robert Henry Abel was misidentified as William when Robert was buried. The actual CPL William Abel lived a long life and died in 1919.
