She was the daughter of Joseph S. Hinds and Sussanah Hankins. She married James Christopher Abel on 18 February 1838 in Roane County, Tennessee. In the late 1840s her family moved west to Charity, Dallas County, Missouri. Anna died there. Shortly after her death her husband and her children moved back to Roane County, Tennessee.
