Glenn H. Beckman, 93, longtime Reading area farmer, passed away Friday at the Laurels of Coldwater. He was born April 7, 1917, in Latte Ohio, the son of Fred and Ida (Adair) Beckman. Glenn served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a longtime member of the Reading Baptist Church. He also attended the Hillsdale United Brethren Church and formerly belonged to the Hills and Dales Square Dance Club. Glenn was a devoted family man and loved farming, gardening and attending auctions.
On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Emma (Haskell), and she survives, along with two daughters, Sue Dilyard, Reading; Glenda (Dan) Mann, Camden; one sister, Edna (Jerry) Edgerton, Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Whitney, Brock and Kenton Mann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Faye Swaney), four brothers (Otto, Ray, Carl and Claire Beckman), and his son-in-law (Roy Dilyard).
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Reading, with Reverend Alan Fenstermaker officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Hillsdale Right to Life or a charity of one's choice.
