son of J.H. and Permelia Abbott

J.M. Abbott, 79, of the Padgett community, passed away following a stroke of appoplexy about 21 months ago that confined him to his bed until he was called by death. The community has lost a good citizen; one whom we all loved and was held in high esteem.

Services were held at the Padgett Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Copeland, pastor, officiating.

Abbott moved to Young County with his family in 1906 and settled on the farm in the Padgett community. Abbott was one Young County's leading farmers. He was a kind and loving husband, father and Christian gentleman.

J.M. Abbott married Miss Sara F. Rouswell on 15 May 1884 at San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas.

To this union, 13 children were born, one daughter preceded him in death. There were 11 children that attended the funeral.

Survived by his wife; 12 children; 45 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren to mourn his going together with a host of friends and neighbors.
