NATCHEZ -- Services for Jewel L. Thomas, 81, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at his residence, will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Monsignor Thadeus Harkins and the Rev. Alfred Camp officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomas was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Jefferson County, the son of Louie J. and Vida Smith Thomas.He was a retired maintenance foreman for the National Park Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ray S. Thomas; and one sister, Zadie Harrigill.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis M. Thomas; two sons, Eugene L. Thomas and his wife, Sheri, both of Mexico, and Russell G. Thomas and his wife, Pam, both of Bentonia; two stepsons, John Philip Schlimper and his wife, Charlotte, both of San Augustine, Texas, and Paul Schlimper and his wife, Kathy, both of Elgin, Texas; six sisters, Myrtis McManus and Louvenia Patrick, both of Terry, Myrtle Payne of Biloxi, Zanie Anderson of King City, Calif., and Billy Ruth Herring and Nancy Breland, both of Pearl; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Cowart, Tommy Biglane, Bruce Kuehnle, Tommy smith, Carl Smith and Keith Schlimper.
