Mr. Hardman was born in Adams County, Dec. 21, 1893, son of the late Lewis and Lucy (Sprenkle) Hardman. Most of his life was lived in the Waynesboro area.
Mr. Hardman served in the US. Army with the AEF in France during WWI. Following his discharge from the service, he was employed at the Hess Planing Mill and later worked, for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Prior to his retirement in 1958, Mr. Hardman was last employed at Landis Tool Co. for 15 years.
Mr. Hardman had lived at the West Second Street residence for the past 30 years.
His wife, Mrs. Mildred L. (Reed) Hardman, died in February, 1970. Mr. Hardman was a charter member of both the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Veterans of World War I, Chambersburg.
He is survived by a son, Robert G. Hardman, Waynesboro; two grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and four sisters: Mrs. Naomi Haugh, Mrs. Rhoda Martz and Mrs. Lemma Snurr, all of Waynesboro; and Mrs. Pearl Barlup, Greencastle.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of Pastor Charles Reider. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
