John Hardin Baird, 62, died Monday, March 20 in Hobbs, NM, where he had lived for five years. A retired farmer and mechanic, Mr. Baird lived at Dodson from 1931 until about 10 years ago. He was born in Jefferson County, OK, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Surviving Mr. Baird are his wife, Mrs. Opal Baird of Hobbs, NM; one son and four daughters, Vernon Baird of Oklahoma City, Mrs. James Underwood and Mrs. Billy Ray Branch of Amarillo, Mrs. Leroy Ayers of Hobbs, NM, and Mrs. Harlan Ball of Albuquerque, NM. Other survivors are his father, W. C. Baird of Ringling, OK; four brothers and four sisters: S. S. Baird of San Bruno, CA; E. V. Baird of Pittsburg, CA; Paul Baird of Duke, OK; Kenneth Baird of Rio Vista, CA; Mrs. Claude Seymour of Vinson; Mrs. Woodrow Gibbons of Gould, OK; Mrs. E. J. Roberts of Canadian; and Mrs. Wayne Warthen of Ardmore, OK. There are 17 grandchildren.
