Johnnie Lou Branch, 76, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Messiah's House, 514 W. Eighth Ave., with Pastor John Ayers of Hobbs, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Johnnie Lou was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Dodson to John Harden and Opal Marie Baird. She graduated as valedictorian from Dodson High School in 1954. On Sept. 3, 1955, she married the love of her life, Billy Ray Branch, in Wellington.

She worked in retail for more than 30 years at Colbert's and Dillard's, retiring from Dillard's in 2002.

Johnnie's life revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether attending a sporting event or another activity, she cherished time spent with each of them.

She was passionate about reading and even enjoyed watching the occasional old western movie. Johnnie had a particular fondness for red birds but enjoyed watching all types.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and two sisters, Verna Mae and Sarah.

Survivors include two daughters, Diann Wright and husband Scott and Mary Moore and husband Darryl; a son, Randy Branch and wife Jacque, all of Amarillo; a sister, Shirley Ayers of Hobbs; a brother, Vernon Baird of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
