Obituary for Vernon Twiggs McChesney
from the Wills Point Chronicle Aug 23, 1888

DIED – at the family residence in Wills Point, Texas, at 8:30 p.m. August 17th 1888, V. T. McChesney, after a lingering illness of several months. Mr. McChesney was born in Caldwell county, Ky., July 23rd 1854.

He located in Wills Point in 1877 where he soon took a prominent position as a lawyer and by hard sobriety and diligent attention to business, he soon came to the front as one of the leading attorneys of Van Zandt county.

His close application to his business and unremitting labor in his profession certainly hastened his death. In the death of Mr. McChesney the city of Wills Point has lost an energetic and progressive citizen. The bar has lost one of its brightest ornaments and his family has lost an affectionate husband, father and brother, whose loss to them is irreparable, and we extend to the sorrowing family our sincere and heart felt condolence in this their great bereavement.
