NINA JEWELL WHELAN, 74, of Valley Station, died Tuesday at Humana Hospital Southwest. She was the former Nina Adkisson, a native of Meade County and a member of Order of Eastern Star. Survivors: her husband, John K. Whelan of Valley Station; four sons, Merlin H. Basham of Henryville, Ind., Shelby Wilcox of Brooks, Bill Wilcox of Anchorage and John Whelan; a daughter, Jewell Rodgers; a sister, Thelma Pitcock; four brothers, Jack and Butch Adkisson, both of Brandenburg, Don Adkisson of Ekron and Dennis Adkisson; and several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hager Funeral Home, Brandenburg. Entombment: Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation: after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
