Charles Jorgensen, Jr., 80, a longtime resident of Enfield, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, (February 10, 2010) at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Born on November 21, 1929, in Hartford, Charlie was the son of the late Charles and Martha (Madsen) Jorgensen, Sr. Prior to his retirement, Charlie was employed as an underwriter for CT Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 38 years and later for the Monarch Life Insurance Company in Springfield for seven years. A veteran of the Korean War, Charlie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. A former member of the Enfield Stage Company, in his leisure time, he enjoyed the company of family and friends, the NY Giants, Boston Red Sox and the UCONN men's and women's basketball teams. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Charlie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret (Lemire) Jorgensen of Enfield; his mother, Sarah Hall of Middletown; his children, Eileen J. Bletz and her husband Bob of Enfield, Michael C. Jorgensen and his wife Wendy of No. Andover, MA and Eric R. Jorgensen and his wife Jan of Enfield; his brothers, James Jorgensen and his wife Judy of Enfield and Howard Jorgensen and his wife Martha of So. Windsor; his sister, Lois Carlson of Warehouse Point; his grandchildren, Stacy Goulart, Alison Poltrino and her husband Thomas, Robert Bletz, Jr.(Danielle), Spencer Jorgensen and Alexandra Jorgensen; and a great-grandson, Charles Robert Bletz who will arrive in June. Charlie was predeceased by his brothers, Henry and John and his sister, Martha Abbe. A procession will form on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 9 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road to Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Enfield Street Cemetery.
