George Lessig married Anna Maria Hinkel (daughter of Joseph Hinkel and Elizabeth Hermann) 24 Aug 1854 in Hamilton Union (aka. Christ) Church in Hamilton Twp., Monroe Co., PA.
George and Anna Maria were blessed with six children:
1. Gedness Lessig b. 1856
2. Morris R "Maurice" Lessig b. 1857
3. Joseph H Lessig b. 1861
4. John Lessig b. 1868
5. Sarah Lessig
6. Emma Magdalena Lessig
George was a merchant throughout his life opening a stoere in Tannersville in 1867 where he also lived.
George Lessig died in 1899 leaving a will in which he mentioned his wife, Maria, and sons, Gedness, Morris, and Joseph H. Daughters Sarah and Emma Magdalena are not mentioned and probably died before 1899. (Monroe Co. estate file #778, will book 5, pg. 99)
