WINNFIELD -- Funeral services for John E. Austin, 65, will be at 11 a.m. today in New Hope Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Miller and the Rev. Ed Wiems officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Austin died Thursday in a local hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Eros and [a] member of the Methodist church.

Survivors are his widow; two sons, Clea Austin of Winnfield and Dale Austin of Cullen; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel A. Kourney of Las Vegas, Nev.; five brothers, W. J. Austin, Jesse Austin, Evan Austin of Winnfield, Lonnie Austin of Springhill and J. B. Austin of San Antonio, Tex.; seven sisters, Mrs. Eva Berry, Mrs. Maggie Walker, Mrs. Josie Garr [sic Gaar], Mrs. Zella Shivers, Mrs. Laura McCain, all of Winnfield, Mrs. Zelma Donalson of Hodge and Mrs. Vera Deloney of Springhill; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
