Mother Dies, Leaves Two Sick Children

Shellsburg, Nov. 8 – Special –

The first death from influenza occurred Thursday when Mrs. Henry McCormick passed away at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Robert McCormick. The incidents are particulary sad. Mrs. McCormick came from her home in Wisconsin two weeks ago to attend the funeral of her father, Pen Sawyer, who was buried at Urbana. She came here to spend a day with her mother-in-law and was taken very ill. A trained nurse was secured but it was too late to save her life. The husband arrived just before she passed away. Twho children, aged three and six, are left motherless and both are sick at home. The deceased was about 33 years of age and will be remembered as Miss Etta Sawyer. She taught school before her marriage. No funeral arrangements have been made.
