Suggested edit: Roy Branson Mathias, 56, of Mathias, died Tuesday afternoon at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health several months.

Mr. Mathias was born December 13, 1921, at Mathias, and was a son of the late John F. and Julia Sager Mathias.

He was a farmer and member of Garretts Chapel United Methodist Church in Mathias.

On February 23, 1946, he married the former Annabel Webster, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Michael Mathias, of Timberville, Kevin and Brian Mathias, both at home, a daughter, Anita Whetzel of Linville, two brothers, Ben and John T. Mathias, both of Mathias, six sisters, Ada Caplinger, Minnie Delawder, and Gussie Stultz, all of Mathias, Ressie Hahn of Wardensville, Beulah Barb of Timberville, and Mary Getz of Mt. Jackson, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garretts Chapel United Methodist Church by the Revs. Kenny Stevenson and Ward Halterman. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
