George B. Van Winkle married Ida M. Setzer in Brock, Nebraska. To this union were born the following three children:
Troy Van Winkle – Dec 14, 1887 in Elk Creek.,
Clyde M. Van Winkle – 1886 in Brock, Nebraska
Myrtle Belle Van Winkle - -1893 in Brock, Nebraska

Troy grew to young manhood in the area and wed Pauline Marie Gottschall on December 25, 1907 in Elk Creek, NE. They had the following children:
Mabel May V. W. - 1908
Lorraine Troy V. W. - 1917
George Everett V. W. - 1921
Dorothy Pauline V. W. - 1923

Seeking better opportunities in farm land, Troy relocated to the rich Platte River bottom grounds near Silver Creek in eastern Merrick County, Nebraska in the late 1930s. After turning the majority of the farm work to his two sons, Troy and Pauline moved into Silver Creek. Troy suffered a stroke in about 1969. Pauline passed away at their home in Silver Creek on September 14, 1973 and Troy passed away in Osceola on April 13, 1977.
