Viola Mattingly, age 95 of McQuady, KY, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Breckinridge Health, Inc. She was born in Breckinridge County on June 13, 1912, the daughter of the late Frederick Edward Martin and Alice Mae Armes. She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, a homemaker who enjoyed being a mother and "Mamaw Vi" to three generations of grandchildren. She loved fishing and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mattingly; six grandchildren, Charles Francis, John Edward, Billie Jo and Cecil Mattingly, Jean Glansbeek and Virginia Gilpin; three grandchildren, Paul Aubrey, Kenny Dowell and Jennifer Richards; and one great-grandson, Josh Yocum. Survivors include ten children, Jim Mattingly of Newnan, GA, Bob Mattingly
of Guston, KY, Mike Mattingly of Elizabethtown, KY, Betty Hale of Garfield, KY, Susie Corley of Tulsa, OK, Nancy Richards of Hawesville, Pat Driskell of Shepherdsville, KY, Louise Lynch of Borden, IN, and Gail Lee of Mt. Washington, KY; and 138 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great -great-grandchildren. Services were Sunday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in McQuady with Fr. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Trent-Dowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
