She was born on December 1, 1916 in Longville, MN to Charles and Louise (Coenen) Slagle. She was united in marriage to John Pugel on June 14, 1941 in Eveleth, MN. She lost her loving husband of 56 years on December 23, 1997. Dorothy and John lived most of their married life in Eveleth. Dorothy worked at J.C. Penney in Eveleth for 31 years. She then retired because Penney's closed in Eveleth and she didn't want to travel to Virginia to work at the Penney's store there. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary.
Eventually Dorothy and John moved to Virginia, MN. Dorothy lived in Virginia until she moved to Cornerstone Villa on February 20, 2005. She adjusted quite well at Cornerstone and loved participating in activities, mostly loved playing bingo. She also loved to play cards with some of the other residents.
Dorothy was always a very loving, kind, and caring person, who would do anything for anyone if she possibly could. It's too bad she never had any children because she would have been a wonderful mother.
Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Edna Sogge of Osakis, MN and Alverna (Bob) Trousil of Alexandria, MN and one brother Glen (Helen) Slagle of Longville, MN; two nieces, Joyce (Howard) Miller, of Mt. Iron, MN and Marilyn (Wally) Tiedeman of Buhl, MN and many, many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Louise, her husband John, and four brothers, Frank, Minor, Ed, and Ken. Three sisters, Hazel Sundquist, Mildred (Eff) Mix, and Gladys Bakeburg.
