Mildred E. Mix
Longville - 1920-2005

Mildred E. Mix, 94, formerly of Longville, died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.
Mildred was born on November 20, 1920 to Charles and Louise Slagle in Long Prairie (Todd County). She moved with her family to Washington State, where they lived a short time before returning to Minnesota to live in the Longville area. Mildred (Ef) worked as a telephone operator in Hackensack for two years; moving back home to help her mother care for five younger children. She meet Jim Mix and married him in Walker on April 9, 1946. She and Jim worked with Ef's brothers at their sawmill, where Ef cooked for the working crew. Ef and Jim bought the Pine Tavern on Hwy. 200 and in the late '40s built and owned the Country Club at the intersection of Hwys. 200 and 84 for four-five years. Jim then became a homebuilder and built numerous homes in the Longville area, which Ef helped him decorate. They bought and sold the Lynden Beach Lodge at the south end of Lake Inguadona and the Anchorage Inn as well. They went on to build numerous homes around Lake Inguadona. Together they enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and socializing with friends. Ef was widowed in 1989.

She is survived by one brother, Glenn (Helen) Slagle, of Longville; sisters, Dorothy Pugel of Buhl, Edna Sogge of Osakis, and Alverna (Bob) Trousil of Alexandria; sisters-in-law, Madge (Roy) Slagle of Longville, and Ethel (Ed) Slagle, of Buhl; 22 nieces and 17 nephews. May she find peace in reuniting with her "Jim" again.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jim; brothers, Frank, Ed, Minor, Roy and Ken (MIA-Korea); and sisters, Gladys Bakeberg and Hazel Sundquist.

Funeral services were August 3, 2005 at the Longville Bible Chapel in Longville. Pastor Levi Durfey officiated with interment in the Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements were with Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home of Walker and Longville.
